Facebook backtrack, will not limit whatsapp for the privacy policy
The launch of the new privacy policy WhatsApp has fallen apart and confusing, and it doesn’t seem to change soon. The new policy was finally launched on May 15 – after Facebook said that while it would not delete an account that did not accept new policies, the account would ultimately lose access to several features. Now, just a few weeks later, the company has changed the mind.
Facebook announces the new WHATSAPP privacy policy in January, kicking worries about privacy and mass exodus to alternative platforms such as telegram and signals. The number of users who leave the platform seem to kick Facebook into damage control mode, and that’s when confusing chaos begins.
In the latest updates, it turns out that Facebook will not limit users who fail to accept new privacy policies. The company said in a statement that it made this decision following ‘the latest discussions with various authorities and privacy experts.’
However, this seems to only be a temporary decision, with the company noting that it is not ‘now’ has a plan to limit whatsapp functions to these users. Instead, Facebook said it “will continue to remind users from time to time about updates and when people choose to use relevant optional features, such as communicating with businesses that receive support from Facebook.”
This step seems to be the one that is intended to calm the two governments and users who have taken problems with the new privacy policy. For example, India has recently asked the company to withdraw a new privacy policy, with the Ministry of Electronics and Nation Information Technology claiming that he violates many laws.
