Autonomous airlines supported by Google Merlin will power the 55 aircraft fleet
Remote Piloting software and automatic help crawl to non-commercial aircraft. Compared to self-driving technology, this system has an easier trip with air safety regulators because of their coexistence with human operators. But, some young autonomous airlines try to change it. Today, one of the startups, the Boston-based Merlin lab, announced a partnership that will bring on-board automation software to the 55 King Air Utility aircraft.
Pact with Aerospace Company Dynamic Aviation coincides with the emergence of Merlin from Stealth Mode, marking the first time technology for wing aircraft will still be used publicly. Over the past few months, Startup has secretly tested its ownership software on various aircraft, including Turboprop Twin aircraft, in special flight facilities in the Air Port & Space Mojave. The trial includes the first aircraft from the dynamic flight partnership.
Merlin said he had raised $ 25 million from supporters including Google Ventures, the venture arm of the alphabet. We already know that the Google Co-Founder Larry page has previously ride the Aero and Kitty Hawk car train, so the company’s involvement here is hardly surprising. The search giant parents also operate a self-driving car division in Waymo.
Like its reliable romance, the reliable robot, the final goal of Merlin is to fill the sky with all a number of pilot and cargo planes. The company said its autonomous platform was “agnostic aircraft” which allowed it to be installed on existing and new models. “This agreement represents the main commercial milestone and Merlin’s commitment to support larger and more complex aircraft,” said Matthew George, Co-Founder and Merlin CEO.
